Hale Pioneers

Oh Pioneer

Heather and Tyler went on a Pioneer Trek last month. They pushed handcarts for 4 days and some 30+ miles. They were also required to dress in period dress. This was taken right before they left at 4am. I just wish I had got before and after pictures. They were filthy dirty, but it really just looked like a very good tan.

Heather's birthday

Heather's birthday is a 2 day event. One day is for a family party and one day is for a friend party. I'm not quite sure how it evolved into this, but she loves it that way, of course.

This is Heather at her "family party". You can see her cousins Frank and Daniel watching. The cake was a Lemon cake and to the side you see a pie. It is one of her Aunt Sheila's famous Lemon Meringue Pies.

Tyler's present to Heather was wraped in Duct tape, several layers of duct tape. It was very pretty wrapping, just a little difficult to unwrap.

For Heather's "friend" party we decided it was just too hot outside to crank up the oven, so we made a donut cake. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Heather got a pretty princess ballerina piggy bank from her oldest friend, Julie Dumas. That is Julie has been her friend the longest. They were friends before they were born. Her mom and I were pregnant together, and they are the only girls in their famlies.

Curtis MTC pictures

Curtis with his very cool stationery set from his Aunt Sheila. Thank you Sheila and everyone else who got Curtis cool stuff for his mission. This was on the day of his special Sacrament Meeting talk. If you look close you will see the great tie that his special Aunt Amber and Uncle Wade picked out for him. Amber won the opportunity to pick out this special tie by guessing where Curtis would go on his mission. If you can't see, it is a kind flowery tie. Not too bad considering what she could have done.

Curtis with Grandma and Grandpa Hale. We spent the night at their
house the night before we took Curtis to the MTC.
We had to have a last silly family picture.

We took a couple of last, sniff, family pictures before Curtis left.

Here is Curtis just before he left for the MTC. We actually left him at a church near the MTC because the MTC was full of new mission presidents.
